HVAC MARKETING, WESTERN SYDNEY

HVAC marketing Western Sydney: booked ducted quotes in the hottest part of the city

Western Sydney gets more than four times the hot days of the harbour, and most homes are detached houses. That makes it the best ducted market in Sydney, and the busiest. Here is how we would run it.

How much hotter is Western Sydney than the coast?

A lot. The Bureau of Meteorology's Penrith Lakes station averages 30.8°C in January and 71.2 days a year at 30°C or more. Observatory Hill in the city averaged 26.0°C and 15.2 such days over its record. Out west, air conditioning is not a nice-to-have. It is how people sleep.

BOM station Record used Mean Jan max Days ≥ 30°C a year Days ≥ 35°C a year Days ≥ 40°C a year
Penrith Lakes AWS 1995 to 2026 30.8°C 71.2 21.8 4.7
Horsley Park Equestrian Centre AWS 1997 to 2026 29.9°C 54.9 14.7 2.4
Parramatta North (Masons Drive) 1967 to 2026 28.6°C 44.2 11.1 1.6
Sydney (Observatory Hill) 1859 to 2020 26.0°C 15.2 3.2 0.3

The highest temperature on the Penrith Lakes record is 48.9°C. Notice the gradient too: Parramatta already runs well above the city, and Penrith runs well above Parramatta. A campaign that works in Seven Hills will need more budget and more diary room by the time it reaches Emu Plains in January.

For you that means a longer cooling season, sharper spikes, and more homeowners who already know they need something bigger than the wall unit in the lounge.

What kind of homes are in Western Sydney?

Mostly detached houses, many of them large. In the 2021 Census, 78.3% of occupied dwellings in Penrith and 81.1% in Blacktown were separate houses, against 55.8% across Greater Sydney. Four-bedroom homes made up 41.9% of Penrith and 45.8% of Blacktown. That is ducted territory.

There are three housing types we plan for, and each gets a different offer:

  • Established brick homes in St Marys, Mount Druitt, Rooty Hill, Seven Hills and Emu Plains. Many have a split or two, or older ducted. The pitch is whole-home comfort or a like-for-like ducted replacement.
  • Newer estates on the growth fringe: Jordan Springs, Glenmore Park, Marsden Park, Schofields. Some homes were built with ducted, some were left for the owner to add. The pitch is ducted or zoning done properly, with a heat-load assessment.
  • Units around Parramatta. In the 2021 Census, 47.3% of City of Parramatta homes were flats or apartments. Strata limits, balcony condensers and splits. We usually leave this out of a ducted campaign.

Ownership matters too, because renters cannot sign off on a ducted install. Blacktown had 42.9% of homes owned with a mortgage and 34.3% rented in 2021. The six-question qualifier asks about ownership for exactly this reason.

Who buys ducted, multi-head or split in Western Sydney?

Owners of three and four bedroom houses buy ducted or multi-head. Owners with one hot room buy a split. Landlords buy the cheapest split that passes. The money is in the first group, so our ads, pages and qualifier are built to find them and filter the rest.

Buyer Typical home What they buy How we treat it
New-estate owner 4 bed, built in the last 15 years Ducted with zoning Lead offer: in-home heat-load assessment
Established owner, old ducted 4 bed brick, ducted from the 2000s Ducted replacement Lead offer: replacement quote plus ESS discount where eligible
Established owner, splits only 3 bed brick Multi-head or ducted Lead offer: whole-home quote
Single hot room Any One split Price and booking link, no chase
Landlord or tenant Rental Split Tenants asked for the owner's details

How would we run Meta and Google ads in Western Sydney?

We would set a radius around your depot, covering the suburbs your vans already drive, and run Meta and Google Search together. Meta runs two campaigns: new-estate ducted for the growth suburbs and replacement ducted for the established ones. Search catches people searching now. Every ad points to a suburb page, then the qualifier.

In practice:

  1. Radius, not region. A Penrith installer and a Blacktown installer would get different circles. We exclude the Parramatta high-rise core from ducted ads.
  2. Two offers. New estates get "free in-home heat-load assessment, install slots before Christmas". Established suburbs get "replace your old ducted, NSW discount applied on the quote where eligible".
  3. Heat triggers. When a hot week is forecast, spend goes up two or three days before it lands, not after. Our Sydney HVAC marketing calendar covers the month by month plan.
  4. Google Search alongside. Search campaigns target the same suburbs and bid on ducted and replacement searches, "ducted air conditioning Penrith", "replace ducted aircon Blacktown", plus breakdown searches when a heatwave kills an old system. No single-room split searches.
  5. Budget flips in summer. The default split of the $4,000 minimum is Meta $2,500 and Google $1,500. From December to February it flips to Google $2,500 and Meta $1,500, because people search when systems break. Off-peak it goes back to Meta-heavy with Off-Peak Fill.
  6. Diary guard. Out west, a heatwave can overfill a diary. If your next free quote slot is more than a week out, we cut spend rather than book quotes you cannot reach.

We cover how we build ducted creative in marketing ducted air conditioning. The Meta side is on the Facebook ads for HVAC page and the Search side on Google Ads for HVAC.

What does it take to break even out west?

About 2 ducted jobs a month, on our planning numbers. That assumes our $3,000 fee plus $4,000 of combined Meta and Google spend, and about $3,500 gross profit per ducted job. We have no Western Sydney client data yet, so treat this as an assumption to replace with real numbers.

Worked example: break-even for a Western Sydney ducted installer (planning assumptions)

Monthly cost: $3,000 fee + $4,000 ad spend ($2,500 Meta + $1,500 Google) = $7,000

Gross profit per ducted job: $2,300 to $4,800, about $3,500 as the planning midpoint

Break-even: $7,000 ÷ $3,500 = about 2 ducted jobs a month

Planning output: $4,000 ÷ $100 to $130 blended cost per enquiry = about 35 enquiries, 60% qualify = about 21, 60% book = about 12 to 13 booked quotes

At a 30% close rate: 12.5 × 30% = about 3 to 4 won jobs a month, if most are ducted

On your numbers, about two ducted jobs a month covers everything you'd spend with us, fee and ads. Anything past that is yours. That is a planning line, not a guarantee.

A 3 to 4 bedroom ducted install in Sydney is $10,500 to $16,500 as a planning range. That is why we would rather book fewer, bigger quotes in Jordan Springs and Marsden Park than lots of single splits.

Does the NSW ESS discount matter in Western Sydney?

Yes, mostly for replacement work. The NSW Energy Savings Scheme gives eligible households an upfront discount on the quote: indicatively up to $550 for a new 6kW system and up to $560 for replacing an old unit with a 6kW split. There is no closing date. It gives an ad a reason to act now.

Out west, the older brick suburbs are where it pulls hardest. On a large new-estate ducted job it is a small line on a five-figure quote, so we use it as a supporting line there, not the headline. The NSW page notes households must go through an installer offering the incentive, and homes that already have an efficient system may not qualify. Our guide to the NSW discount for installers goes further.

How do Western Sydney homeowners search for air conditioning?

They search by system and suburb: ducted air conditioning Penrith, aircon installer Blacktown, air con repair near me. Searches jump when the forecast turns. We have not pulled keyword volumes for this page, so we will not quote any. The takeaway is timing, and it is why we run both channels.

By the time someone in Glenmore Park types "ducted air con quote" on a 40°C day, they are ringing three installers, so Google Search has to put you at the top with a 60-second reply behind it. Meta reaches that same household in November, when they are still annoyed about last summer and have time to book a proper quote.

Is Western Sydney open?

Yes. We have no HVAC client in Western Sydney yet. We take one HVAC client per service line per area, first come. See how the west compares with the rest of the city on our Sydney HVAC marketing page.

FAQ

Western Sydney questions

Do you work with air conditioning installers in Penrith?

Yes. Penrith, St Marys, Glenmore Park and Jordan Springs sit inside our Western Sydney territory. We take one HVAC client per service line in the area, and it is open right now. If your vans are based out west and ducted is at least 40% of your work, book an audit and we will map the radius with you.

Is Meta worth it for air con businesses in Western Sydney?

We think it is the strongest Sydney region for it, run alongside Google Search. Heat builds demand, most homes are detached houses, Meta reaches homeowners by suburb before they ring around, and Search catches heatwave breakdowns. We have no Western Sydney clients yet. Our planning assumption is about 12 to 13 booked quotes a month from $4,000 of combined spend.

Should I advertise ducted or split systems in Blacktown and Penrith?

Lead with ducted. We never advertise single-room splits. The 2021 Census shows 41.9% of Penrith homes and 45.8% of Blacktown homes have four or more bedrooms, and a four-bedroom house is a ducted conversation. Split jobs still come in. We send them a price and a booking link rather than chasing them, so your techs spend time on the bigger quotes.

Do you cover Parramatta as part of Western Sydney?

Yes, but we treat it differently. In the 2021 Census, 47.3% of homes in the City of Parramatta were flats or apartments, far more than Penrith or Blacktown. Apartment work means strata approval and splits. We usually leave the high-rise core out of a ducted campaign and target the house suburbs around it.
